Pemex Canterell

The Pemex Canterell field, just off the Mexican-Caribbean Coast, consists of a number of production platforms. The platforms are generally arranged in pairs and require high integrity, high availability control and safety system in order to operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

ICS Triplex has provided Fire & Gas (F+G) systems and Monitoring and Control Systems (MCS) to the EPC24, 37 and 38 platforms.

The The Platforms consist of a twin pairs, each with an ICS Triplex Regent Plus fire and Gas (F+G) system and a monitoring and control system (MCS). Each platform is supervised by three Panorama stations on an Ethernet Network, gathering data from the Regents across two serial communications networks via Optical Fibre.

Two of the operator stations are fitted with the serial communications, with the third gathering data across the Ethernet link and filtering only F+G data. Data is transmitted wherever possible via exception reporting, thus optimising communications throughput. Communications is robust, being able to reinitialise after any breakdown. All displays are in Spanish and English for the Mexican operators and the American Engineers.

The Regent systems are designed with triplication throughout , and are able to withstand a system fault without shutdown,. Inputs are triplicated and outputs have dual cards each with two drivers on each output. The systems are configured to handle F+G logic, PID process control and communications to other PLC's, amongst many other functions.

The system provides highly accurate (1ms timestamped) data about system events and incidents. The high availability is provided by the TMR hardware and inbuilt redundancy within the Panorama system.
