La Redoute
La Redoute is the largest mail-order company in France. They are a subsidiary of the Pinault-Printemps-Redoute Group, with brand names of La Redoute, Vert Baudet, Daxon and Empire Stores in the UK. They hold stock of around 20 million items, have about 20 miles of conveyors and deliver 180,000 parcels per day.
An extensive system based on Panorama provides for the preparation, delivery and control of the orders.
A Panorama system of 12 workstations and 2 dual redundant servers, running under Windows NT4. It is connected to over 100 Schneider TSX PLCs running Ethway Protocol, communicating via Applicom Industrial Communications co-processor cards and handling 60,000 variables. The data is exchanged in real-time with Microsoft SQL Server database, which is fully integrated into the Panorama application.
La Redoute benefit from a fully integrated real-time order processing and production monitoring system. They obtain added reliance through using redundant servers and are able to develop their applications without interrupting their heavy production schedule.
