Panorama.TabletPC

Panorama.TerminalPC allows your SCADA application to be accessed from a fixed or mobile "Ultra-Lite" terminal.

(available as an option for PANORAMA v8.0)

Main uses
Simple non-critical SCADA applications based on standard Workstations connected to the industrial process network. Panorama.tse is not designed to replace classic dedicated SCADA operator stations, but is designed to serve a second level of operation.

Solution
Panorama.tse is installed on a dedicated server equipped with Windows 2000 Server operating system and with the "Terminal" activated. This server for the terminals is connected to one or more single or redundant data acquisition servers. Then application can then be started as many times as there are "terminal" clients connected. Using "RDP" (Remote Desktop Protocol) the graphics, mouse and keyboard are sent from the server to the terminal. Whether fixed or mobile, the terminals are connected to the server via a 802.11 a/b/g (55, 11, 11-55 Mbits) network. All the functions of graphic visualisation, navigation, alarm treatment and control are possible. The graphics are limited to 256 colours under Windows Server 2000. The RDP protocol uses a particular non-secure port, which in the main is not allowed under standard office IT structures. Thus, this limits its normal operation to industrial networks.

Advantages
The principle benefit is that only a single tool (Panorama) needs to be used to install and maintain a single application. The terminals don't require the SCADA application nor Panorama, so can be based upon those running Windows CE3, and are able to view and to interact with the entire application. The server can then use the same application, for the shop-floor terminals, as is used in the control room. This scenario gives the ability to use peripherals that are clearly more economic than a conventional PC and to have far simpler installations to integrate and to maintain.
