Codra launch its latest range of software specifically aimed to create "Industrial Information Systems for the Enterprise or the Shopfloor" : Panorama Enterprise Edition "E²".
Positioning
A real revolution in the field of Industrial Information Systems, this
" top of the range " software is aimed at those systems that
must integrate the SCADA functionality essential for a large-scale deployment
of information, functionality, client stations, or applications. Panorama
E² is perfectly suited to those applications that require a global
access to a site or that sit at the heart of an enterprise. It is equipped
with a great capability to consolidate data from different sites or plants
onto a local, regional, or national level. Panorama E² is intended
for Enterprises (public or private) or for groups that have technical
infrastructures that they would like to monitor, manage or operate much
better in order to reduce the costs of running them and to be able to
administer them much better. Panorama E² is ideal for replacing existing
information systems, based upon bespoke developments or toolkits, by an
" off-the-shelf software " solution which will considerably
reduce the maintenance costs. The industries having such large infrastructures
can be found in the following areas: the Environment, Energy, Transport,
Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, etc…
The range of " Industrial SCADA " software (version 8), which
Codra has offered for many years now, has been renamed to:
Panorama Professional Edition " P² ". This software continues
to be aimed at local applications not requiring the management of hundreds
of thousands of variables. With this range, Codra maintains
it's presence in the much loved Automation market.
Infrastructure
and standard functions
Panorama E² is based on a ubiquitous and extremely powerful infrastructure/"
Object " framework allowing the construction of an information system
for all types of installations. This infrastructure offers basic processing
in the form of functional objects such as :
- Data Acquisition
- Presentation of information through animated graphical mimics.
- Alarm and Event management
- Data archiving and traceability
- Data extraction and analysis
- Formulae and calculations
- RDBMS integration
These functions are based upon our 15 years experience with users of our
P² range.
The kernel of Panorama E² takes care of the notification of the data
changes and their automatic distribution via the network to dedicated
or general client workstations.
It is possible
to create the application functions as " Macro Objects ", themselves
created from the standard basic objects. This structure allows the organization
and deployment of the SCADA functions by modeling the configuration of
a project on the physical and/or functional structure of an installation
at runtime and on the organization of the enterprise. The application
is generated by " instantiating " the models (generic components)
in line with their usage within the application. The project can be organized
in hierarchal folders with many sub folders, which allow them to be arranged
into a functional structure, thus making them easier to find.
Panorama E² offers standard tools for simulation, commissioning and diagnostics in order to speed up the test and validation of an application.
This great
organizational capability allows the easy configuration of elaborate systems.
It is indispensable for large-scale applications where, thanks to an amazing
software performance, it is able to acquire and process many hundreds
of thousands of pieces of information.
Overview
Automatic application generation tools allow the substitution of data
references described in a relational database into those of the field
equipment naming scheme. This guarantees the information integration from
a single point in order to facilitate the easy generation and maintenance
of the application.
Panorama E² stores its historic data in standard commercial relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle…) this allows the information to be directly available in the enterprise format or to be directly accessible for process analysis. It is directly interchangeable with ERP applications and it easily integrates directly MES functions using standard office tools.
In order
to protect investments and to increase the clients' independence, all
the external interfaces of Panorama E² are written according to industrial
IT standards based upon open standards such as " XML, ActiveX/COM/Automation,
.Net, OPC, ADO/SQL….. ".
Panorama E² offers an easy to use infrastructure for adding new functionality (commercial components or specific developments) in order to meet the application requirements where necessary. Once " connected ", these new functions are available for use by the mouse just as if they had been delivered as standard with the package. This allows users to develop their own features themselves giving an unlimited extension to the functionality. Thanks to this personalization power Panorama E² is great for OEMs and machine specialists who wish to integrate better their specific requirements and to optimize the deployment of their systems.
In order
to share the work produced by the users of Panorama E², it is envisaged
that a club known as " POP " (Panorama Object Provider) will
be created that allows all developers to offer their objects on an extranet,
available on line as a catalogue of objects, which are free or purchasable
as per the wishes of their creator. This allows you to work by reusing
what is available rather than by continuously developing new ideas.
Complementary Functions
Panorama E² offers the latest Biometry technologies in order to offer
better access protection to the client workstations through a secure authentication
of digital fingerprints. These functions are integrated into the heart
of the operator management functions of the product, thus allowing the
automatic change of operator simply by him placing his finger on the biometry
chip on the workstation he wishes to use. Thanks to its virtues, Panorama
E² is particularly suited to applications needing to satisfy the
FDA CFR 21 PART 11 certification requirements.
The package is also seen as being run from mobile terminals such as a TabletPC or a PocketPC equipped with Wifi or GPRS wireless connections. Roving operators can then access the information from a " hot terminal " on the shopfloor, in a meeting room, or from the public domain while they are away from the office. They can thus work with a greater reactivity and efficiency.

accompanying technical support and assistance specifically adapted to
each project in order to assist the integration with optimum efficiency.
Expérience
Proven over a two year period, Panorama E², a stable and reliable
industrial product, is now ready to be launched onto the open market.
In fact, it has already been installed on many large projects such as
the control system for the simulation of the nuclear tests (LMJ project
in Bordeaux) and as the replacement information systems for EDF's 1300MW
nuclear power stations.
