Panorama.net

"Panorama.net" is for those who wish to access their SCADA application from standard workstations equipped only with an Internet Browser.

(available as an option for Panorama v8.0)

Main uses
Panorama.net is designed for those applications that need to have access to the SCADA by a second level User. Usually having only a part of the functions provided by a dedicated SCADA workstation and not having the same levels of performance, Panorama.net doesn't replace classic, critical or fully functional SCADA workstations. This module brings the information to the production or maintenance managers directly on their personal office machines equipped only with a simple Internet Browser. Panorama.net is ideal for giving temporary access to the process information. It is also used in the role of remote maintenance or for people who are "mobile", say, out and about around the site, or off-site, or who at home.

Solution
PANORAMA.net is installed on a dedicated Web Server equipped with the Windows 2000 Server operating system and Internet Information Server (IIS). This Server is connected to one or more, single or redundant, data acquisition Servers. In real-time, it converts the mimic displays to XML / eXtend Markup Language format (for the objects) and SVG / Scalable Vector Graphics format (for the graphics). The pages are then published using a " Pure Web " technology using HTTP / Hyper Text Transport Protocol via port 80. Any Internet Explorer type Browser, having access to this server and its security logins, can access the information via the mimics in the same way as the standard SCADA workstations. The Server can be connected onto a private network, internal to the enterprise, via an Intranet, or can be connected to an Extranet on the world-wide public network via an ISP / Internet Service Provider.
It is possible to access the alarms; to handle them (acknowledge…); to display historical and real-time trend graphs. Protected by a password and commensurate with the operator's access level, it is also possible to control the outputs.

Advantages
Personnel having access to conventional or portable micro-PCs can have access to the SCADA without having to install the application on their machines. Access to the information can be from, literally, anywhere, providing that there is a valid connection to the Server.
The use of a " Pure Web " solution allows the Web Server to be totally integrated into the enterprise infrastructure through Routers and Firewalls. Thus giving full advantage with respect to geographical location and security through the use of http protocol on port 80 (which is well used and controlled).
The SVG technology is the most recent graphical technology available, as defined by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), it is already in use by some of the largest software companies (AUTODESK and ADOBE for example) as well as CODRA. SVG is an open and non-proprietary standard, which gives the Users their independence and, through PANORAMA.net, makes it possible to use the SCADA graphics.
